Interracial relationships can be a beautiful thing, but they also come with a unique set of challenges. Navigating the clash of cultures can be complex and difficult, especially when faced with a lack of support from family or societal stigma. So, how can you successfully navigate these issues when your partner comes from a different cultural background?
In this episode of Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast, host Aditi Kutty dives deep into this topic with Dr. Bill Johnson – a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Johnson is an expert in anti-racism, equity, and social justice, having published scholastic articles and delivered presentations on culturally competent psychotherapy, anti-racism, and psychotherapy with African American men at national and international conferences. Additionally, he is a Mindful Self-Compassion teacher and has a certificate in Mindfulness and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Mindful Psychotherapy.
But that's not all! Dr. Johnson is also a sex therapist who specializes in providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples experiencing sex and sexuality related concerns. He is sex-positive and focuses his practice on men’s sexual concerns, as well as kink, BDSM, and Polyamory communities. As a member of various professional organizations, including the Australian Psychological Society, the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapist, and the American Psychological Association, Dr. Johnson has a wealth of experience in his field.
Originally from St. Louis, MO, USA, Dr. Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Missouri and earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in Dayton, Ohio. When he's not busy practicing psychology, Dr. Johnson enjoys sports, traveling, and indulging in his love of movies.
Join Aditi and Dr. Johnson in this engaging and informative episode as they discuss the complexities of navigating interracial relationships and the importance of anti-racism, mindfulness, and sex-positivity in therapy.

How does sexual desire affect our romantic relationship? Is sexual desire essential for a romantic relationship?
In this episode of Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast, host Aditi Kutty will discuss the effect of lust/ sexual desire with Nitasha Strait, Ph.D., M.Ed., MA, LMFT, CST–the owner/CEO of The Better You Institute, LLC, where she is a licensed marriage and family therapist, certified sex therapist, and clinical supervisor specializing in couples and sex therapy.
She started working in community-based programs throughout Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Here, she learned the power of family systems and attachment. Within your family system, you discover more discover more about relationships and yourself. Sometimes, this learning can serve you in adulthood, and sometimes what you’ve learned is maladaptive for adulthood.
Nitasha realized how big of a gap or how much misinformation there often was in her clients’ learned narratives about sex and sexuality and how greatly that impacted them daily with themselves and their loved ones. It has become her life’s mission to serve as many people as possible, helping individuals untangle sexual scripts that block them from getting what they want.
Aditi and Nitasha discuss the effects of sexual desire and lust on our romantic relationships, the definition of lust, and whether it is a must to have a sexual desire when we have a romantic relationship, and how that manifests in a healthy relationship.

We have seen many married couples who might look good when together. Yet, after years of living under one roof, they are separated because of infidelity. How could it happen? Is it because they have less relationship satisfaction? Physical appearance? Why and where does it happen?
In this episode of Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast, host Aditi Kutty is joined by Dr. Talal H. Alsaleem, PsyD, LMFT, the father of modern infidelity counseling, is an award-winning licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in helping people recover from infidelity—whether alone or as a couple.
He teaches how to use the trauma of an affair to rediscover, establish and maintain healthy relationships with oneself and others through a trademarked seven-step methodology known as the Systematic Affair Recovery Therapy (SART)™ treatment program.
In addition to offering intensive, one-on-one weekend retreats for couples ready to dive deep and address issues head-on versus spreading treatment out for weeks or months, Dr. Talal also shares his proven framework with other clinicians via CE-credited training and lectures.
His book, “Infidelity: The Best Worst Thing That Could Happen To Your Marriage” is available on Amazon.com. You can also find his docuseries, The Infidelity Chronicles, via YouTube. Discover more at www.talalalsaleem.com, or follow him on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

There are many factors that can contribute to a fear of commitment. From negative experiences, worries of rejection, insecurities, and more. These factors could affect us when we want to start a relationship, especially a romantic relationship with someone we love. How do we move past this issue?

She supports individuals and couples with issues that reflect communication struggles and dynamics, with loss of connection and intimacy, parenting tensions or blended families, cultural differences, infidelity, polyamory, feelings of ambiguity, trauma, separation, and grief and loss. She even has further worked extensively with LGBTQI couples.
Eleni supports couples to understand their relationship dynamics and patterns more deeply, to work towards accepting their differences, to attend to unresolved hurts, and to re-establish their emotional bonds. Her 15 years of dedication to the field of therapy reflects her belief that life and relational experience can be enhanced through self-exploration and consciousness, human potential, compassion, courage, and loving responsibility.

Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast
Relationships are like a kaleidoscope -- lots of little shapes in lots of colours that blend together in sometimes beautiful, sometimes uncomfortable ways. They're complicated, different personalities and different expectations, and for most of us, negotiating all of that is tough. Your Host, Marie Stella Quek, is going to be your companion, your friend, your agony aunt riding with you on your journey to a healthier relationship. She talks to experts who give actual good advice on a range of topics, like encouraging emotional intimacy through mindful communication and dealing with a partner who has anxiety. And sometimes, things get a little bit spicy. Each topic addresses an element from the comprehensive framework of several domains and elements created by the Center for Relationships Science and we would like to credit them for their work.
